Estimator

Electrical Service Technician Level 1
FULL TIME FIELD · SALES ORLANDO, FL · ORANGE, SEMINOLE & OSCEOLA COUNTIES

Are you an experienced electrician who can read a house, explain it to a homeowner in plain words, and write a price you’d be proud to defend? In Phaze Electric is hiring a dedicated Field Estimator at our Level 1 Service Technician tier. You’ll run in-home sales estimates across Orange, Seminole and Osceola counties, scope every job to code, and hand our office a job that’s ready to permit, stock and schedule.

This is not a call-center sales job. It’s a top-tier electrician’s job, built around estimating, with the truck, the support staff and the pay to match.

About In Phaze Electric

In Phaze Electric is a veteran-owned residential and light commercial electrical contractor, founded in Orlando in 2009 by Navy veteran and Master Electrician Tony Taylor. We started with one truck, one license and one rule about honest estimates. We’ve grown on repeat customers and referrals to a 4.7-star rating across more than 2,000 reviews, a BBB A+ rating, and a crew customers ask for by name. Florida license ER13014254.

What we believe shows up on every estimate:

✓Honesty first. “If you don’t need it, we’ll tell you. That’s the entire business plan.”
✓Professionalism equals sales. Sell to the code.
✓Fair, transparent pricing. No gouging, ever.
✓“Close enough” gets people hurt. We never skip permits or cut corners.
✓Leave it like you were never there.
✓Good techs get named here.

What you’ll do

Most of your day goes to sales estimates, in person and from customer photos. The rest goes to service calls, warranty returns and training other techs when the schedule needs you.

✓Prepare each visit in Housecall Pro (HCP) and call ahead with your GPS arrival time.
✓Run a professional in-home visit: first-name greeting, listen first, qualify the call, and survey service, grounding, panels, wiring, GFCI/AFCI and surge protection.
✓Scope to the code: run NEC Article 220 load calculations, label findings Required, Recommended or Optional, and tell customers plainly what they don’t need.
✓Write complete HCP estimates: price-book lines, all three options (Normal Price, Book Now 5% Off, Lifer Plan 10% Off), photos, notes, and full material and labor lists.
✓Present without pressure, ask for the decision, and send the estimate before leaving the driveway.
✓Hand off cleanly: flag permits, Notices of Commencement (over $5,000), shutdowns and special-order material for our directors, and answer their questions the same day.
✓Own your results: warranty calls first, estimated versus actual hours, lessons from lost big bids.
✓Teach Level 2 and Level 3 techs to estimate.

What you bring

REQUIRED
✓At least 4 years of residential electrical service or installation experience, or a Florida journeyman card.
✓The ability to work independently on troubleshooting, installs, code questions and permitting, with no technical supervision.
✓Working knowledge of the NEC as enforced in Florida, including load calculations, services, grounding and bonding, GFCI/AFCI, EV charging and standby generators.
✓Clear, friendly communication with homeowners, in person, by phone and in writing.
✓Comfort with a smartphone or tablet and the willingness to learn HCP to our standard: every button, every note, every time.
✓A valid Florida driver’s license, a clean driving record, and the ability to pass a background check.
✓Florida attic heat, ladders and crawl spaces don’t scare you.
NICE TO HAVE
✓Estimating or in-home sales experience in electrical or another home-service trade.
✓Generator, EV charger or panel manufacturer training; OSHA 10/30 or NFPA 70E.
✓Spanish. We serve customers in English and Spanish.
✓Progress toward a Florida Master or Certified Electrical Contractor license.

Pay, bonus and benefits

✓Hourly: $42–$50 per hour by experience, performance and HCP compliance; above $50 with a Master Electrical Contractor license.
✓Weekly bonus: $100 for every $3,500 sold above $25,000 in a pay week, up to $1,000 at $60,000. Example: $39,800 approved earns $400. Sales count once the office confirms them.
✓Earnings: about $87,000 a year at the starting rate, up to about $150,000 with top pay and strong weekly sales.
✓Proven: our top quarter averaged $26,078 sold per week, and we close more than 7 in 10 scheduled estimates.
✓Vehicle: a stocked, maintained company truck, or $0.65 per mile in an approved personal vehicle.
✓Time off: 7 paid holidays and 3 sick days after 90 days; 1 week of vacation after year one, 2 weeks after year two.
✓Weekly direct deposit.
✓Office support for booking, routing, follow-ups, permits, inspections, deposits and material.
✓Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–6:00 PM; long days limited to storm season.

Training and growth

You won’t be thrown in alone. A structured 90-day program of eleven modules takes you from the In Phaze way and estimate basics through load calculations, code scoping, pricing, takeoff, the sales visit and HCP, to CEO certification at Day 90.

From there, the path continues: top of the Level 1 range, a Master Electrical Contractor license with pay above $50 an hour, and a lead role in commercial bids, new construction and estimator training as we grow.
