Every year the same thing happens: a ladder, a tangle of strands, a dead section you only find once everything is up, and a Saturday gone. Permanent roofline lighting ends that. The lights are installed once along your roofline, tucked out of sight in the daytime, and controlled from your phone. Christmas is one setting. So are game day, Halloween and a plain warm white for every other night.
We are an Orlando electrician, and Govee permanent outdoor lights are what we install. Here is how it works, what it costs, and what to ask any installer before you sign.
What are permanent Christmas lights?
They are weatherproof LED lights mounted on a track along your fascia, soffit or eaves, wired to a power supply and a controller. Each light point can be any color, so one install covers red and green in December, orange and black in October, and white or warm white the rest of the year. You change scenes in the Govee Home app, set schedules, or use a voice assistant.
What does permanent roofline lighting cost in Orlando?
Price follows three things: how many feet of roofline you want lit, how many stories the house is, and which Govee line you choose. Our pricing includes the parts and the installation, as one price. For a typical Orlando home, expect these ranges:
Is it worth it compared to hanging lights every year?
Seasonal installers charge again every year, and the lights come down in January. Permanent lighting costs more on day one and then you stop paying, climbing and storing. The other difference is that you use it. A roofline that is only lit for six weeks is an expense. One you can switch to team colors on Saturday and soft white on a Tuesday is part of the house.
What happens on install day?
Why have an electrician install it?
The lights are the easy part. The power is where installs go wrong. A roofline run needs a power supply in the right spot, a safe outdoor connection, and wiring that is protected from Florida rain. Adding a new outdoor outlet or circuit for the power supply is permitted electrical work, and we pull that permit. Using an existing GFCI outdoor outlet is generally not permitted work. If your installer cannot tell you where the power comes from, ask again.
LED strip lights for house exteriors, and other places to put them
Roofline is the main use, but the same approach lights more than the roof. We also install LED strip lighting under eaves and soffits, along fascia and trim, and on patios, pergolas and covered porches. Tell us what you want lit and we price it at your free estimate.
Questions to ask before you book
If you want to see it before you commit, ask for the free estimate. We measure, tell you the price, and show you what the lights look like on your own roofline. We serve Orlando and the surrounding area, including Winter Park, Kissimmee, Maitland, Lake Mary, Winter Garden and Oviedo.
