Honda does not make a home standby generator. It makes the EU-series inverter portables (EU2200i, EU3200i, EU7000is) that are the quietest, cleanest-power portables sold, which is why so many Orlando garages have one. We make them useful: an outdoor inlet, a listed interlock kit and a dedicated circuit so the fridge, lights and Wi-Fi run from the panel instead of from cords through a window.
| MODEL | OUTPUT | FITS |
|---|---|---|
| EU2200i | 2.2 kW | Fridge, lights, phones, a fan; 120 V only |
| EU3200i | 3.2 kW | Essentials plus a window unit; 120 V |
| EU7000is | 7 kW | 120/240 V — the one that pairs with a 30 A inlet and interlock |
| Two EU2200i with a parallel kit | 4.4 kW | 120 V only; needs a 120 V inlet or a transfer kit |
Only the EU7000is is 240 V; smaller Honda units need a 120 V-only inlet and will not run a central AC. Ranges include the inlet box, interlock kit, dedicated circuit and permit. The in-person estimate is free.
Inlet box, breaker interlock kit, dedicated circuit, permit. Uses the generator you already own.

An inverter portable covers the essentials row. For central AC, a well pump or automatic start, see the standby brands below.
Yes. We are a licensed Florida electrical contractor (ER13014254) and we install, wire, permit and commission Honda portable generator hookups with inlet boxes and interlock kits across Orange, Seminole, Osceola and Lake counties. We size on your real load first, then recommend the unit.
A portable hookup — inlet box, interlock kit, dedicated circuit and permit — runs $1,200–$2,400 on top of the generator itself. Only the EU7000is is 240 V; smaller Honda units need a 120 V-only inlet and will not run a central AC. The estimate is free and in person.
Essentials (fridge, lights, Wi-Fi, a well) fit in 7.5–10 kW. Add one central AC and you are at 13–14 kW. Whole-home with two AC systems is 22–26 kW. We run a load calculation on site instead of guessing from square footage.
On a level pad outside, with the manufacturer's clearances — typically 18 inches from the house, 5 feet from any window, door or vent, and clear of the AC condenser and gas meter. Orlando-area HOAs often want it screened and on the side yard; we handle the approval paperwork with you.
It can power the essentials — fridge, lights, Wi-Fi, a fan, phone chargers — through a 120 V inlet and interlock. It cannot run central AC, an electric water heater or a 240 V well pump. For those you want an EU7000is or a standby unit.
No. For automatic whole-home backup we install Generac, Kohler, Briggs & Stratton, Cummins or Champion standby units. Many customers keep the Honda for camping and add a standby for the house.
Cords through a window let in rain and bugs, overload easily, and the temptation to backfeed a dryer outlet is what electrocutes linemen. An inlet and interlock costs about the same as a decent cord set and is legal, inspected and safe.
